Citizens Institute for Rural Design (CIRD) DESIGN booklet
This June, over 3 full days, more than 125 people participated in a series of workshops and roundtables to envision the future design and use of the Agate Bay waterfront.
Historically, the land spanning from where the Edna G is docked, past the historic depot, to the boat launch near the lighthouse was owned by the railroad or the DNR.
Today, the property is in the process of being transferred into city ownership for the first time.
By participating in the Citizen’s Institute for Rural Design design workshop, our community had an opportunity to provide input on what they would like to see happen with Agate Bay. That feedback was translated by a group of architects from To Be Done Studio into an initial design concept which will be refined over the next few months, before being formally presented to City Council.
A huge thanks to the Tipsy Mosquito, for providing a meeting space; the Moose Lodge for offering additional space for community workshops; and Harbor Rail for opening up their doors for our community presentation on the last day of the workshop.
